The very next day .

The road took us through Pierrelatte and Montèlimar. We passed other towns but surly the highlight was Allan, truly and undiscovered gem in the Heart of France, it was awsome to visit the town named after me. They are truly living up to my high standards there. There was at least 5 shops repairing everything from farm equipment to those nasty little motorscooters. They had an excellent petanque ground and we caught the end of a competition. We were able to get a couple drinks, french fries and sandwich made with barbecued sausage at the special post petanque price.

St. Restitut

Around this region, dogs are trained to find truffles at the bottom of the oak trees. Pigs are no longer reliable to find the truffles because they eat them before their master can say "that'l do pig"

This region is very hilly and there are many little villages. It's difficult to visit them all.

We also had a picnic at on the stairs of this church in St. Paul Trois Châteaux.

These fields will be gorgeous when the lavender flowers in June. We can just imagine!

Another little village in the distance.

Clansayes in the distance.

Our destination for the day, Pierrelatte, yet another hidden gem. We liked it because there was lots of history in every corner.

Cute curious cat.

There are two giant rocks in the middle of the town. The moulin.

This bistro has the same name as the new movie " Bienvenu chez les Ch'tis "
Coincidence?

Hotel du Centre
Our hotel was awesome cheap and the service and breakfast, excellent. The location was even better, right in the centre.

View from our room.

The next day on our way to Montélimar, we found a great bike path the ViaRhôna and some parts are still in the works.

After we climed for a while, we descended through a cute little town called Châteauneuf du Rhône

On our war to a village called Allan

Today was all about him, it was inevitable.
The village had remains of a ancient fort at the top of the hill. The town now has about 1200 inhabitants.

A closer view of the top of the hill. There wasn't a good trail to climb to the top, so we settled for a picture

Back of the church in the village of Allan.

The church and one of the main streets.

We had a picnic in the park after catching the last part of the petanque tournament.

Allan looking back at his village on the way back.

Found a cool place to race Radio Control cars. Hugh would have loved to see this, since he also owns a couple of these cars.
