We went to two museums in one in Aix and one in Marseille where they had an incredible collection of paintings based around the idea that between 1850 and 1960 many good painters worked in Provence and were influenced by the work of Paul Cézanne. Cézanne is a local hero in Aix where he lived most of his life and painted most of his works. We saw Picaso, Dali, Monet, Bohdan etc it was grand.
We also went to Marseille and got our residence permit after being X-rayed, inspected and poked with needles. Turns out we are healthy enough to spend our money in France. All good.
Marseille is a different town and we might have to visit a couple of times just to get used to it. I think we will like it in the end but so far it has a rough and rundown look. We weren't in the best parts of town yet as the immigration office is in a sketchy part of Marseille.
