A Lazy Week. Feb 11

We didn,t do much. Yoly won at Petanque AGAIN! I don't want to talk or write about Yoly winning Petanque any more. I like drinking Pastis and talking after the game more than playing. We went out for dinner after Petanque, with Jerry and Kathy, to La Tomate Verte. It was good but maybe a little expensive. Yoly picked it because it was recommended by her teacher.
We studied french for a couple rainy days.
We found some abandoned books in the park so we adopted them and gave them a dry home where they will be loved by all who come to study french at our apartment. We read one of the books and started on another.
A trip to Pelissanne was the highlight of the weekend. We went to visit Suze and her family, Suze is one of our friends from the french school in Aix. Wow is Suze ever lucky she has 7 year old twins, a boy and a girl, and a 5 year old girl. Not to mention a cool french husband, Stephan, so she can live like a queen in the south of france.
They all live in a 600 year old house that has river running through the basement. The river originally powered a mill that ground up whatever needed grinding. The river is part of the Canal of Marseille. The canal runs all through the town of Pellissan and Salon de Provence too.

Restoration of the bell tower at Paroisse St-Jean-de-Malte requires 3 new bells for a total of four.

At the Paroisse

During our short visit at the Paroisse, the organist was playing lovely tunes pretty much for the two of us.

Manuche the cat came for a visit on a rainy day

Al is having a break from studying and plays with Manuche

Yoly was supposed to take a photo but Al ate half first.

Children listen to thier mothers when mothers use kind words and swing big hammers.

God of wine.

We ate "raclette" a delicious grilled treat that can be layered any way we chose. I arranged one of mine like this: with potato, ham, one quail egg, pickles, tomato, and of course some raclette cheese. A couple of minutes in the official raclette grill and voilà! It was yummy!

The edge of a fountain in Aix.

Spigots of the fountain

This will always be one of our favorite fountains in Aix en Provence.
